American Studies

The Master of Arts degree in American Studies is designed to encourage academic and professional development in individuals who have studied some aspect of American history, language or culture as undergraduates. This program is taught at Nazareth College but includes a study abroad option at the University of Pannonia in Veszprem, Hungary.

  1. allows American students to gain international experience and help them engage in American studies from an international perspective. At the same time, the program will provide international students with the opportunity to earn an American degree.
  2. provides interdisciplinary study and preparation for those who wish to gain entry into fields such as education, government or international service.
  3. prepares students to be active and informed members of their academic and professional communities, and to have a keen awareness of issues and trends in the US and of global factors in culture and politics.
  4. emphasizes the role of globalization and the need for cultural competencies.
