Deadlines & Requirements
American Studies

Art Therapy Specialization (Creative Arts Therapy)
- Three letters of recommendation (instead of two)
- 20-Piece portfolio on CD-ROM demonstrating competency in two and three dimensional work. Exceptions to this format by Program Director Approval only.
- Prerequisite Coursework:
- Studio Art, 18 credit hours
- Psychology, 12 credit hours following areas: Introduction to Psychology or General Psychology, Abnormal Psychology and Personality Theory

Education - Additional/Professional Certification (Art, Educational Technology, Inclusive Ed, Literacy Education, Music, and TESOL Education)
For those applicants with (or in the process of applying for) New York State Education Teacher Certification: For ALL Additional/Professional Certification Programs*:
- Photocopies of all teacher certifications you presently hold if available at the time of application

- Audition Dates for 2013-2014:
- Thursday, October 3, 2013 (October 1 application deadline) and Thursday, April 3, 2014 (April 1 application deadline)
- Applicants must submit an audition form to the Dr. Mary Carlson, Graduate Music Education Program Director. Audition forms will be sent to applicants upon submission the admissions application.
Additional/Professional Certification Deadlines: March 1 for summer term; April 1 for summer & fall term; October 1 for spring term
*Teacher Certification in appropriate subject area/level as designated in the Graduate Catalog. Inclusive Changing Level and TESOL programs may require additional prerequisite Coursework as listed in the Graduate Catalog.

*All Initial Certification programs require an evaluation of prerequisite Liberal Arts and Sciences coursework for New York State Teacher Certification. Outstanding prerequisite coursework needs to be completed before you can begin your student teaching semester and be recommended for certification through Nazareth College. Higher Education Student Affairs Administration

*Prior coursework must include an undergraduate statistics course with a grade of "C" or higher. In addition, students who select the "Management & Organization" electives cluster must show completion of MGT 212 (Organization and Management) or its equivalent with a grade of "C" or higher

International TESOL (TESOL for International Educators)
- Interview - Program Director will contact qualified applicants.
- Required test scores for international applicants:
- 550 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- 79 on the Internet-based Test TOEFL (a minimum of 25 on the speaking portion is required).
- 6.5 on the English Language Testing System (IELTS)
For those with international transcripts:
*Transcripts must be translated to English.
*A review of your transcript by a reputable evaluation service is required (such as World Education Service, Educational Credential Evaluations, or Josef Silny & Associates) at the expense of the student.

Music Therapy Specialization (Creative Arts Therapy)
- A live audition of student's primary instrument
- Demonstration of basic proficiency on the piano and guitar
- Prerequisite Coursework (9 credit hours): Intro Psychology, Intro to Music Therapy, and Psychology of Music (may be taken concurrently with graduate Music Therapy coursework)

Physical Therapy

Prerequisite Coursework:
- 8 credits of Anatomy and Physiology (includes laboratory)
- 8 credits of Chemistry (includes laboratory)
- 8 credits of Physics (includes laboratory)
- 3 credits of Statistics (psychology-based)
- 6 credits of Psychology (One course is in a developmental psychology course is preferred)

Social Work
